Space Systems Command (SSC) is creating an Independent Review Team (IRT) to review SSC's acquisition expertise. The IRT will review SSC's acquisition workforce to identify any proficiency gaps. The immediate focus of this effort is to refine the “optimal” mix of Government and Contractor resources, while also accounting for reliance on A&AS/FFRDC contractor resources. A long-term opportunity SSC aims to achieve is establishing a plan to ensure SSC develops the “right” expertise for its desired “future of work.” The study being acquired by Gartner will set an organizational and workforce baseline, identify organizational and workforce gaps, and propose short- and long-term solutions to close the identified gaps.
