The University of Connecticut Department of Animal Science typically produces some for its use. The purpose of this solicitation is to fill the gap between what is produced on site and acutal consumption. Due to unpredictable crop yield it is impossible to forcast exactly how much will be required to purchase annually. As a point of reference, purchases over the past one-year period include 300 tons of hay (standard and “big” bales).
